The conclusion of post-launch advice for your money-making blog…

7. Market and promote your blog without ever being a spammer or doing any black hat SEO or trying any other useless shortcuts or gimmicks.

Keep on blogging and if in a year from now you are still nowhere, see step 5 and 6 and re-evaluate. Also, get involved with a forum, maybe there someone can give you the answer when you can’t figure it out yourself. There is a community out there willing to help, don’t forget that!

8. Monetize only AFTER you’ve taken the first 7 steps because you won’t be ready to monetize otherwise.  Here’s a breakdown of why this is the case.

It’s all about building more and more trust at every step until the trust is built ENOUGH to sell people on your products.  Can you tell I am trying to drive this important point home?

Step 1 was have enough content.  If you monetize without the content, that’s like advertising a store that has empty shelves.  When people come and see that, they will leave and not come back.

Step 2 was to post regularly. Don’t do that and it looks like a store that sells something and doesn’t replenish.  Again, people will leave.

Step 3 was to prepare and set up a routine. Not doing so makes you look unorganized, and amateurish.  People will get a bad impression and won’t come back.

Step 4 was to use max batch processing.  Like a store, if you don’t have your supply chain in order and you don’t efficiently maximize content and processes, then your timing and consistency make you look ineffective.  People won’t come back or take you seriously.

Step 5 was to not chase the small stuff at the expense of the big stuff. Like a store, certain items always need to be on the shelf -  they are your biggest money-makers and profit-making products so why chase after then non-money-makers?

People leave when you have empty shelves for what they most often come looking for, right?

Step 6 was to continuously improve. A site not responsive to customer needs and wants is like a store trying to sell and improve for things other than from what the people really want or are looking for.  Such a store is prone to go out of business very quickly.

Step 7 was to Market and Promote because steps 1-6 were done right and you were ready for the traffic and volume as a result.

Step 8 is to monetize because now, you are ready, and the traffic is on its way.  Time to make some money!
