The Single Best SEO Tip One Should Follow Part 2
How should you go about SEO? That’s easy.
1. Create the content your talent would lead you to develop.
2. Then optimize it for search engine traffic results pages just enough so you cover the basics. Don’t just focus on SEO or you rob yourself of all your site could be if you truly focused on your talents and ideas and MADE THEM HAPPEN!
3. Don’t get distracted by surfing for SEO secrets that you think would strike the gold mine. Your efforts are better spent on creating content.
I REMEMBER WHEN I WENT SITE TO SITE FOR SEO Advice…
The problem was, when I did this, I wold get too distracted by layers of sites upon sites, read a gazillion things about SEO, and usually not create content. I was ever learning and never doing. Are you making that mistake? Stop doing that. Go to your site, write some content, practice the basics and just keep writing and posting.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s good to stay in touch with the latest news about SEO to some extent or you could risk missing something important. But don’t think that just focusing on good content development and the basics will make you miss anything big. It won’t.
Why? Because the search engine algorithms favor this approach of content and not over-doing SEO. The algorithms are always getting smarter, and are able to detect the SEO cheaters and over-doers. The engines don’t want you to focus on SEO so they are trying to do what they can to reward the sites that don’t.
If you don’t believe me, then read Google’s own guidelines and tips for webmasters. That is coming straight from the horse’s mouth, not a gazillion sites and forums you like to surf that really don’t do anything for you!
Oh, except distract you from your PRIME OBJECTIVE of creating content.
No focus on SEO is of course the utopia that won’t happen but 80% (like I’ve said before) should be quality content development and not SEO (your search engine optimization efforts should be no more than 20% of your effort, compared to your 80% effort creating content)
I bet that 80% of you reading this have it the other way around, and that’s the WRONG APPROACH because it goes against the natural laws of the search engine algorithms. Forget the million SEO tips and tricks. There actually about 20 or 30 tips that I will release a document on in the future that you MUST DO, and then forget it and focus on content for most of the time.
More importantly, there are a few key things for you to understand at the CONCEPT level that every SEO site I come across fails to provide. I will put that information in the upcoming SEO document I plan to write and it is based on…you guessed it, my SEO TRIAL and ERROR.
How to stay in touch with SEO news
1. Pick 2 or 3 sites max to follow, perhaps once a month.
2. Don’t fall for the SEO hype. The best example is when everyone jumped on the Blog Rush bandwagon, only to find late it wasn’t all that great a source of traffic or SEO tool. I used it for a couple months and then stopped because it seemed ineffective for me, and didn’t do anything for my traffic. Yet several months later I still saw it on many other sites and wondered if they were just keeping it just in case as I had.
If it weren’t for SEO trial and error lessons learned, I wouldn’t be able to write this, and I am still learning every day and simply share what I know so you can benefit from something other than the same old thing found on every other SEO site…
