SEO Madness Part 6 – Search Engines, Supply and Demand
SEO Madness Part 6 – Search Engines, Supply and Demand
SEO and Supply & Demand
Ahh, now we have the supply and demand dilemma, and the answer is as I see it, create something where, just as in one’s calling, the three important things line up or intersect: desire/drive, talent/skill, and the opportunity/possibility.
If we have a viable concept, or a viable approach to the concept, then we can achieve success with the three things in a calling which must intersect.
So Search Engines are not as they stand, driving the production of quality content. In addition, the distraction to an author to have to devote time to SEO learning and keyword maneuvering rather than just focusing on developing content as they should, causes web pages to be of less quality. Would you agree?
If search engines get better at filtering content for quality and relevance, should we eventually not come to the point where we can devote 95% of our time on quality content alone, and maybe 5% on SEO and the rest? Yes, but we’re not there yet.
I do need your feedback about this one though…anyone with experience in this that can tell me where they think we’re at with this? It will be key to everyone’s future on the web…
Now don’t get me wrong here, I fully understand that web pages must be optimized for search engine searches and for keywords in some regard, because they need to be found for the content based on the subject they cover. But let me give you an example how this could go wrong. Let’s say that I wanted to search the following:
Say I wanted to search for “sound advice” or information about investing. The problem here is that “sound advice” may pull up things like audio related advice rather than “good advice”, practical, balanced advice, which is what I meant when looking for “sound advice”.
Say I wanted an “honest broker” about business advice. No, I’m not looking for an investment or real estate broker, I want someone who is honest.
Say I was looking for “electronic tools” like spreadsheet templates and other such e-tools. I put “electronic tools” into the search and up come 80% of pages that are about tools from tool companies rather than what I meant in another context.
Context-based is step two only by the way, yet Google, as good as it is, hasn’t made the leap yet. Why not? maybe after reading this, Larry Page and Sergey Brin will do just that…or are already planning it…and no I have no insight, I’m just a regular dude…
