Select The Right Domain Name The First Time Pt 1
Finding Your Ideal Domain Name and Domain Name Availability
You must choose the right domain name the first time. That’s because once you register it, and start to put content into your host then at some point it will be too late.
You must get this right the first time or you will waste a lot of time changing domain names, moving content, re-configuring everything and re-linking everything. What a pain and what a nightmare!
So how do you get this domain name stuff right the first time?
Use the basics of business principles like the KISS principle.
KISS in the Web Business = Memory, Effort and Ease
Say you have a site
“www.yourwebsite.com”
Is that the easiest way for someone to type in your website? No!
You should have used “www.yoursite.com”
Let’s use another example…one of my sites
Triple bad! Violates the KISS principle of simple and easier is better (simpler to type, to remember)
1. a .net instead of a .com because people assume its .com
2. two words instead of 1 because 1 work is easier to remember than 2
3. a dash well it it could be dashless that’s easier for typing
See how KISS works best as the underlying principle here?
More ideal: dot com 2 words hyphenated
www.famous-sayings.com (not my website)
Even more ideal dot com version, no hyphen
.www.famoussayings.com (not my site)
Much More Ideal
www.sayings.net
Most Ideal
