Making Money Online Is Not All It’s Cracked Up to Be 1
I’ll be the first to admit that making money online is not easy.
Those who say making money online is easy either got lucky or are just saying that to sell you on their product.
Honestly, there is a lot to do, a lot to learn, before the trickling effect. Then as you continue slowly the snowball of success starts to grow over time but it grows slowly and gradually, not near as fast as you would’ve thought or would’ve liked.
Just look at what Forbes said about how to make money online
In one example, an Army vet grosses 100K a year but only nets 25K of that a year. Might as well just get a regular job at that rate! I know, I am not being very encouraging. But maybe in 5 years if they persist they will double their income every year and surpass the 100K a year net goal. But if they keep making the same…well…
Here’s what the article also says, “To have any prayer of attracting large advertisers, sites need to attract at least 500,000 unique visitors per month, says David Hauslaib, publisher of Jossip.com, a media and gossip blog that counts Coca Cola…and Sketchers among its advertisers.
Sadly, even if you do generate enough traffic, the ‘click-through’ rates on ads tend to be quite low–in the neighborhood of one half of 1%…Subscription-based models are even harder to crack.
Unless your site fulfills an urgent need (for tangible investment ideas, a potential mate, etc.), users aren’t likely to pay for the content.
The article concludes with the harsh reality, “Sure, you can make money online. But no one said it was easy.” That’s a far cry from “make millions with Google Adsense that sites still claim.
