Change Web Hosts Without Losing Traffic or Profits
Will switching web hosts cause you to lose your traffic (and therefore profits) if you keep the same domain name?
In one of my previous posts, I asked whether or not there was a way to change domains without losing traffic and profits. This time, let’s say the domain is good but the host is not. Can you change the host to a better and more reliable host, and then re-direct all the traffic?
I ran across a great concise article in the Article Base Free Online Directory. The article is entitled “How To Switch Web Hosts Without Losing Traffic And Profits ” which tells you how in a basic sense.
Warning – Do This At Your Own Risk I would again caution you here. As long as you have taken the necessary steps then you can make this happen in a couple days. It’s not going to be extremely easy, but it’s altogether not that hard either.
But I would add that you should: Make a complete backup of all of your content on your local hard drive and a backup drive. Keep a copy of your internal links if possible. It will be things like links and certain configurations and thins you set up that will be the most time consuming to get back.
The content is quick and easy compared to all the other admin stuff. Call the new host and ask for tech support once you have joined, they should be more than willing to help you make the move right.
They probably have all kinds of help files, forum and even video how-to information to do this! Be prepared for at least a couple of days of several hours of full time work, this is no small task Sequence, as the article I mentioned, is very important so you do the right things first, and don’t do something that is out of order or that could prevent you from having a viable site up and running quickly.
If You Are Prepared You Will Be Successful That really goes with anything in life, and making a big change like switching web hosts for all of your money making content is no exception in the slightest.
Who I Used to Get It Right The First Time I use Bluehost, they are an excellent web host. For 3 years at around $6-7 a month for UNLIMITED space and traffic and domains, I paid only $300 in advance, and again that’s unlimited everything for 3 years. Their tech support is great, very quick, never took longer than a 2 minute wait and they are all very knowledgeable and helpful.
That’s been my experience at least. I hope you try them ! As far as other hosting service goes, I don’t know what you’ll get. So I guess hosts are like a box of chocolates…you never know what you’re gonna get.
So if I had success with them, why don’t you try someone you know others say will work. I’m not the only blogger using them. Whoever you go with, I wish you success!
