I know you’re excited to launch your blog, especially if you’re in it to make money blogging. But there are some things you should do first…
In this short article, I will talk about 7 things that are pre-launch must-do’s that I’ve learned in my several years of blogging.
Money Making Blog Pre-Launch Advice:
First – Find the right blog idea, name and niche theme for the opportunity and the talent you have and stick to one niche concept. Read that over and over until you get it. Do not deviate from that!
I made the mistake of starting with too many blogs and learned the value of homing in on a more highly-focused niche.
This alone will help you make more money blogging rather than being a generalist who has no real theme or focus, and therefore makes no money.
How can you tell is your blog has no real theme or focus? By asking 2 simple questions. First, what is your blog about? Example – this blog is about how to make money blogging.
Second - if you can’t select a category from say a directory or a site submission category for what your blog is about (in a couple easy words), then it is not niche enough. It will be too difficult to market because you won’t know where your blog fits in the market!
For example, this blog could have the following categories:
make money or making money
This is probably too broad but it is an option
making money online
Better but many blogs exist for this
online business
Not bad but also very saturated
business ideas
Ok but not niche enough—what kind of business idea? Money making business idea perhaps
making money blogging
Aah, there it is! Or even “how to make money blogging”. See how this works?
But when looking at categories at large, they would fit in any of the above. Now imagine for instance Boing Boing’s difficulty of “a directory of wonderful things”.
- What category does that fit into?
- What does that mean?
- What is it about?
Very difficult to tell. Yes it can be done but best to be more specific, more themed, more niche.
